Yes I have read on here of others who have been scammed the same way.

I received today from the crazy Portuguese a fine for parking in a nature reserve on the 7th august 2018 ....going by the time on it 21.50 i can only assume this was the occasion when the gnr came and told me and one other van to move ....the same occasion the officer spent 25 minutes filling in some huge form having had taken my license and passport etc from me ...he also insisted 3 times this was not a fine but a warning and that if i returned id be fined ...this was in the frankia which i no longer have ....€251 .....i think not lol .

The letter is dated 16th July 2021 so they must be really really bored .

Clearly they already have your address! The letter is post Brexit so not a lot they can do is there unless you want to go back to Portugal by which time it will have no doubt increased. You could become a wanted man in the EU!

It doesn't come under the cross border directive even back then nor does it come under the reciprocal agreement for court ordered fines. . As the UK is now no longer in the EU a renewal of your passport stops any link to you except the name & the same with a replaceent licence. It would only be a problem for the new owner of the Frankia. Not sure whether Portugal is the same as Spain but the fines go with the vehicle if unpaid.

I think if I reply to it then im acknowledging receipt whereas if i just ignore it and it ever came to anything just deny receipt as it wasnt recorded , not my address as only a care of address and i sold that vehicle 2 months after that alleged incident.

Not planning to return to Portugal in the near future anyway

B***it keeps on giving......will be very difficult now for Portugal to extradite you to face justice

I also had a toll road issue with that van in Portugal ...never paid that either and i was back the next year with a different van.

The guy i sold it too has probably sold it on again to be honest .

In a civilised country it would be limited by the need of timely action , how can you possibly provide any defence after such a time period ?

I had a similar experience many years ago , with a hire car in Southern Spain , for speeding in a town that I had never visited , went straight in bin .

Your doing a grand job Tam, I have been concerned about how far the wire worms jump, because we have been parked next to our friends motorhome, don't suppose you want to do another when you have finished yours.

Back to black or similar plastic bumper treatments. They contain a dye that penetrates the plastic, so shouldn't just rub off. We dyed all the faded grey bumpers on my old van to a smart black. Lasted several years.

The last couple of days work ....the inner arch on this side was a complete bugger ...not as much room when the door step etc is in ..but got there in the end ...and then the b pillar repair where the side marker goes...and then a few bits on the side door sill which was a bit of a jigsaw but i enjoyed that bit ...very pleased with the results .. obviously need to work some magic with the body filler but at least thats all solid now .

You have took on something most people would run from inc me , having been & done similar welding projects I know how hard it is the make a perfect job on thin / rusty metal especially in awkward places , I did think the words ( it’ll be as good as new ) when finished was a bit ambitious , with all that practice your welding is improving with each patch lol , its a difficult job & you are doing great , well done you
