We have a Mercedes 220d A class AMG , and it has a 7speed auto , it's just had its first gearbox oil and filters changed , the service book says 5years or 60 thousand miles , this was done at a Mercedes main dealership because I wanted to use the correct oil filters and seals /gaskets and reprogramming I think it cost £250 inc vat , but that's it for another 5years , and yes it dose change gear smoother now

My previous motorhome was a Mercedes 7 speed auto. It was on a service plan and I think the auto oil change was due at or before 4 years, it was certainly earlier than 5 years.

It was lifetime for 5G then 50,000 miles. Now I’m told 40,000

I’m not sure about age.

When the garage carry out a service on it (it’s a kit with new filter and gasket). They remove the “sealed for life” black cap and replace it with a Maroon or red one.

This is what I found on the interweb.

Your Mercedes Benz automatic gearbox oil and filter should be replaced every;

  • 5 Speed - Every 40,000 miles or 4 Years [whichever is the soonest].
  • 7G Tronic - Every 40,000 miles or 4 Years [whichever is the soonest].
  • 7G Tronic Hybrid - Every 40,000 miles or 4 Years [whichever is the soonest].
  • 7G+ Tronic - Every 40,000 miles or 4 Years [whichever is the soonest].
  • 9G Tronic - Every 75,000 miles or 5 Years [whichever is the soonest].
