Merc provide a Europe wide breakdown cover for all vans reg after Oct 1 2012 if regular serviced .I have used it twice .Check it out -Mobilo Van . Many are not aware of this business service open to motorhomes.The wording says call in event of breakdown and ACCIDENT. Can save money over the years .

We get free European cover with Ford if regularly serviced at a Ford garage not sure how many years it goes on for. It was the same on our previous one reg in 2009

Maybe they are so generous because they are pretty sure most vans will be nicked before they breakdown

How much does it cost for servicing at a Merc garage compared to an independant? Indepenant servicing and pay for your own breakdown cover would probably work out cheaper.

That's because they are so desirable and don't break down as often (just joking we do have the replacement locks and obd lock which they also recommend for merc sprinters)

Our last Merc full service £320 in July .We use ADAC about £90 but dont need it now we have a Merc .

And where do you think you will be recovered to in the event of total failure or accident ?
nearest main dealer at £100+ per hour.
They aren't giving you something for nothing.

Savings made at an independent garage will pay for personal breakdown cover and change.

I've no problem with merc service - every 2 years or every 40,000km.
Expense is partly because the engine is so hidden.
