Yep....got one under the Chrysler "hood"

218bhp
376ftlb of torque.
41mpg combined average
i get 24mpg round town and close to 40mpg on open roads....obviously a motorhome is considerably heavier than my 2.25ton car.
Strong and quiet engine, loads of grunt.
pulls my 1700kg caravan (near enough 4000kg combined weight) without raising a wimper, never mind a sweat.

Oh yeah......chrysler is owned by Fiat so keeping it in the family so to speak.

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Our newer ambulance Sprinters are all V6s & its a creamy smooth & very powerful engine. I didn't notice any difference between the older 2.7 5cylinder Sprinters & the V6. They both seemed really good on fuel. The Peugeots that our ambulance service bought were crap & I make no apologies for the word. The brakes catch fire when they've been heavily used & they drink fuel like its going out of fashion & that's just for starters. I'm retired now but wouldn't thank anyone for the Peugeots & I think they are V6s.

It's chain driven. I've got a Mercedes CLS with this engine and can't fault it.

Nice lump, mpg awful, 20 is on a gentle drive, if lucky

Mercedes chassis does seem to roll a lot though, I have upgraded suspension with mixed success

But you will not regret rear wheel drive (y)

personally I would go for auto, new ones are now 7 speed, we have 6 speed, great package :)

On and off since 1983
My new Frankia Platin Plus comes with the 3.0 Merc and the seven speed auto, whisper quiet, more torque than my 3.0 Ducato engine which was good. Fuel consumption down around 20mpg though but still running in and weighing in at over 5 tonne.

Right now I wouldn't go back plus the auto is an epicyclic gear train not a robotized manual so power take up is much smoother too.

Have a drive in it if you wish Paul, I'll be at Bristol and Malvern or pop down to the Forest for a weekend.
