Hi,

Help required please.

Does anyone have this carrier fitted to their Motorhome?

We plan to carry a Honda PCX 125 and would appreciate any practical advice on methods of loading and strapping/securing the scooter on this rack.

Unfortunately the supplying company's website and Facebook pages have no such examples. Direction to any websites that contain video or pictures depicting loading and strapping would be greatly appreciated.

If you can offer any personal experience of your use of a scooter rack in the manner described that would be very helpful.

Thank you.

many many years! since I was a kid
a set of handle bar straps down to the rack, plus one over the seat, tightened with the bike suspension well compressed works well. i also like the security of strapping both wheels too

As above but just be mindful of overloading - if you only have the 3.5 tonne limit.
Kerb weight is 130Kg, tow bracket weighs 30Kg, total 160Kg, that could be more than two12 stone people.

Fortunately I had the MH uprated to 3850kgs and the carrier is bolted to the chassis. It can be removed simply by undoing two bolts and sliding it out so the tow bar can be accessed. Including the weight of the carrier, 150 kilos is our limit.

Don't pull down too much on the handlebar straps, just enough to put a little tension on as it is possible to damage fork seals if overtightened!
Don't ask me how I know:rolleyes:.

Just to add a word of caution. Before setting off on a mega trip, take a short trip on quiet roads making sure that the additional weight so far back from the rear axle does not affect steering and braking. My first motorhome had a rack on which I put a Yamaha DT125 (a> 100k bike) and was scared witless as I had very little steering and very poor brakes. On the subject of weight remember that for every foot behind the axle the load weight is doubled (on the rear axle)

Thanks that's very good advice we will certainly take it out for a local test run and note your comments about the weight. To help with stability Dunlop Air assist has been fitted to the rear.

I have this Memo rack on a Tag axle MH and carry a PCX 125. I use the Wheel chock for the front wheel there are four tie down eyes on the rack. I tie down through the front forks and same on the rear suspension. Did not find using the handle bars very stable . The rack is well built , not light , and can be fitted with a tow bar in place, it really needs two to fit it but I manage alone with two bowls of porridge!

No that is not correct. The amount it will increase will depend upon your wheelbase, but for it to double for each foot that would mean that you had a wheelbase of one foot. Now that is a very short motorhome.
