What a beautiful little boy and a very lucky one to have landed a home with you. I looked at the pictures very quickly as every time I see BC puppies I start to think perhaps we are ready for another one. We really miss Pip and all the other dogs we have had and the fun they give. But a little part of me is also enjoying the freedom without a dog. So perhaps for the moment we shall have fun watching Gus grow up.

Loving the photos of Gus, his furry friend isn’t much smaller. I bet he loves that toy :)

Please do a couple of little video clips. If you keep them short you can upload them to media here on Fun.

6 WEEKS OLD!!! No puppy is allowed to leave its mother until 8 weeks old , sounds like a byb to me,any reputable breeder would never sell a puppy under 8 weeks old.

Just to put your mind at rest, he did not come from a 'back yard breeder' at all, he came from a well respected breeder of trialling and working sheep dogs.
The only reason they let him go early was because we both have experience of bringing up much younger & ill pups (+kittens & very ill foals) with success and he was fully weaned, the litters Mum did that and he was happily eating solid food.
Sometimes it can be a good thing, the only thing we need to do is keep him safe in the weeks before he starts & finishes his jags.
He is eating like a horse and is a very happy boy, he didn't bat an eyelid about leaving the litter and the Mum had, had enough anyway, hence them being weaned.
We would NEVER buy any pet from bad breeders, there was a great deal of conversation both before and when we visited the breeder....she had a full run down on our experience BEFORE she even suggested that she would even consider an early leaver.....and before you ask we didn't ask her to let him go early either.
We are also keeping fully updated on his progress, something they are very keen on with all the pups.

I think you are missing the point...just because its weaned is the least of its problems!!

Firstly Silvia "it" as you describe him is a puppy & a very happy puppy at that.
Secondly he is getting the care & rearing that he both needs & desires.
Thirdly & most importantly is that your derogatory comments are neither required nor wanted.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion but, sometimes if you can't think of something nice to say, then perhaps its better to say nothing at all!

Kind regards...Robert & Hazel.

I can understand your concerns but @ambulancekidd has given you a thorough explanation, considering they shouldn’t have to feel obliged to give such explanation. I firmly believe Gus is in the best place now , lots of attention love and care going on now from 2 very experienced people especially with border collies . :)

It’s actually illegal to sell a puppy under 8 weeks old now. And he should have been microchipped too!

I think the new law came in this month. You also now need a council inspection and licence if you breed a dog and sell it on for profit!

Some people just don't like to hear the truth....you bought the puppy at 6 weeks old fact.. You were sold the puppy at 6 weeks old fact...Don't patronize me..If you don't like peoples opinions then don't go on forums stating that you bought a pup at 6 weeks old!!!.. "getting the care & rearing he both needs & desires" well that says it all, shows you don't know as much as you think...i have no more to say on the matter.

yes you are quite right... and as I stated if the breeder was reputable the pup would of been microchipped...they have to by law..

Sometimes this forum is full of the righteous brigade. Though only when it suits them. Why cant folk just be happy for them instead of taking the goodness away.

I am happy for them and for the puppy, but the two weeks left with Mum and siblings is part of socialisation. They learn bite inhibition, they learn confidence when to be scared and when it’s ok. And to flag these things up on an open forum is not to get at the new owners, but to alert people to the fact that this is not the norm and is, in fact, illegal. The OPs have explained their knowledge and that’s great but issues are raised nonetheless.

Well I for one, are very happy for them (y).

A wise person once said:
"Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men"
I think in this quote "wise men" refers to Mr/Mrs @ambulancekidd .

Sorry your wonderful happy fluffy thread has been soured by the self righteous...
