To Keswick, which would only be our second trip away, due to wife recovering from a broken ankle. Went to get mh, but rear brakes stuck on.
Been in storage for two months with handbrake on....I now know better.
Tried moving back and forth but to no avail, so thought I would give it some welly. All I've done is dug up the gravel so now the front p/s wheel is sitting in a 4 inch deep, tyre shaped rut.
Hoping I can tow it out tomorrow, and in doing so, free the brakes. If not, I guess I'm staying at home....can't see anyone coming out on a bank holiday.

Oh dear! You may have to remove the rear wheels and tap the outside of the drums to free it off, good luck with it! Oh use a copper hammer if you have one.

My car did the same years ago. I moved back and forth to free it up but it pulled the lining off the shoes 😳
They are probably rear discs nowadays mind.

Years ago the same happened with ours. The breakdown man crawled underneath and reasonably gently whacked the inside of the wheels (I think) with a lump hammer, and off we went.

Well, got it out. Took a towrope, mallet, wooden block, spade and the wife.
Dug a bit of gravel out to make a ramp, rather then the wheels being in a hole. Hammered the wooden block on the rear drums. Attached tow rope, me towing, wife driving m/h. Wouldn't budge.
I give up, chucked the spade, tow rope, mallet, wooden block in the boot, slammed the boot shut, and swore a few times.
Waved to wife to say "Ha'way, get out, just leave it".....only to see her just drive the thing straight out.
Unbelievable.
Anyway, had a cracking 4 nights in Keswick, with trips to Wast Water (stunning) and Thirlmere.
Thanks for the replies and advice, much appreciated.

That's quite a revelation!

I hope no one was watching, when you "got it out!"

Bet you will NEVER make a wise crack about women drivers again 🥵

Glad you got away. Next time let your wife park up the van and get it out of storage. Way less hassle. 😆😆😆😆

Always best to reverse it to try to free them...

haaaa...that made me laugh
didn't make me laugh

just reminded me of the time when everyone was being towed on and off a campsite (in wales) after 100yds
the guy in the landy said well ive had no problems so far, will have to let some air out of tyres, my car had plowed a huge A6 sized 3" gouge in the field i then suggested i take the hand brake off.
