Lovely village, we were there just over two weeks ago.
We stayed on the ACSI campsite, just a few hundred yards further down the road you are on and the 'back' entrance is just beyond the tall road bridge. The 'front' entrance to the site has a 3m foot bridge by the entrance which we literally scraped through as we didn't know about the height limit.
Lovely site though and we had a pitch right beside the river.

Moved on past 2 aires planned as one must have had 100 moho's and caravans at the aire and municipal c,site must have had some sort of gathering on. The other very rural not able to get level and loads of cows flies from next field.
So now at a basic aire at Paugnat which is about 3 miles from Volvic , try and get some spring water tomorrow.

We are now down Verteuil sur Charente heading towards Limoge Tuesday
Enjoy !!!!

Thanks for the Aire updates , this one was particularly useful, one of our first ever Aires, very tight as you say in village not helped by scaffold and builders lorries at our visit. But I have spent ages trying to recall where it was without success so thanks (y)

Not helped by being called Loisirs on the entrance which is why I couldn’t find it

Hope you get more sun now not been good so far by the looks of it

Villerest , just South west of Roanne.
It's in C.C., not sure of number.
We haven't paid yet but I think it's 8 euro's a night
There is water but only one tap , there's toilets and a restaurant just behind it 200 yards to gravel beach and water park

You obviously like the same aires as us @FIDGET.(n):D

Villerest is lovely, must go back as it's several years since we last went there.
Roanne is very pleasant but Sancoins is really one of our favourites. It does seem to be getting much busier than it used to. Last time we arrived it was tight getting a pitch beside the water and some nights the aire was packed.

Drive carefully on the way home and enjoy your stop at La Mailleraye. (another firm favourite)

Richard.

Lovely views of the river on the front row! Mind you the river looks low compared with when we there in March.

@peterc10
Yes it is quite low , we were very lucky to get that spot , but it's very hot here 38 degrees outside again and 30 in the moho .
Cracking aire and town , also the chateau is glorious
