My daughter lives in Cyprus, when she attends a hospital appointment she has to arrive early, remain in the car and someone comes to take a blood test for Covid, test results take 45 minutes and then if negative you can enter the hospital, they are testing one in the uk , so if approved perhaps we could take a test at the tunnel and go to France , or am I clutching at straws?

Car park fees at hospitals will cost a fortune. 45 minutes? There bound to drag it out to get into the next time zone. ?

I forgot you have to pay for car parks in England, it is free in Wales but hard to find a space. I was only dreaming of having a nice safe way to proceed out of this mess. It is very quiet here at the moment and safe to go for a walk, but I am dreading the lockdown being lifted as there are so many holiday homes campsites and large caravan parks here, we will have a mass influx of people

I wonder if the French feel the same!

I dont think it is a problem getting into France (after 15th June), its the problem of the return journey and getting into UK.

Unless they change this(y)

Quarantine plan for travellers to the the UK
International travellers, including returning UK citizens, could face spot checks and £1,000 fines if they fail to self-isolate for 14 days after arriving in the country under measures to guard against a second wave of coronavirus

I don’t care if I cannot get back I just want to get out x
I ve got 28 days off from 9th June. Probably arent welcome until 15th June. Fortnights quarantine (find out details in 10 minutes) is likely to prevent me going and hoping that I can do something here.

If youre not interested in getting back you could well be quids in.

I think I can see a slight flaw in your otherwise excellent idea:

Motorhomers would need to pay for the test - judging by the many posts on this site about 'thrift' it's never gonna happen?

Happy to pay for a test, I know it may not be practical but it would mean we could travel. We love the quiet places, so wouldn’t head for popular places, but I do hope we are welcomed back one day soon

I think it would be really strange if we had a higher rate of infection than France and Germany but then imposes a 14 day quarantine on people entering the UK from there. But what would be even stranger would be if they still let us go there without quarantine in that situation!

So am I getting this right.
You want a test so you can go off to France but you are scared of people coming to your neck of the woods. I think wino got it right.
A bit NIMBY I think.

That's what I thought that being said I think the unrestricted travel out at the moments bonkers.

Hi, our eldest was to be married this May in Cypress alas, as you know it didn't happen, Rightly or wrongly they have re-booked in May 21.

If you have any local knowledge that we need to know pls PM as news breaks.

Sorry Dad having a bit of a panic and really wish (before pandemic) they were married somewhere a bit nearer home.

Guess might be a few folks with this concern?
