You don't have to put screws inWhy can you fit rooflights with just non setting sealant but when you fit one of these fans you have put a load of screws in too.
I do not like the idea of putting screws in but it seems most people do from the reviews I have read and the fitting instructionsYou don't have to put screws in
Surely you wouldn’t need screws too if using good adhesiveI do not like the idea of putting screws in but it seems most people do from the reviews I have read and the fitting instructions

I am not sure if I need screws or notSurely you wouldn’t need screws too if using good adhesive
Thanks very informative contacted roadpro I purchased fan from them and they also said dekaseal but are out of stockI used Dekaseal 8936 to fit mine, which is a non setting mastic, so you need screws as well, which I also used. Just make sure the screws are inserted through the sealant so that the drilled hole is sealed. I fitted it over six months ago and it’s been through some horrendous weather in the meantime and hasn’t leaked.
If you use adhesive rather than sealant and screws it may be a real pain to remove if you had to for any reason.

Thanks I can not get any dekaseal in whiteI also helped a friend fit one to his van a few weeks ago in exactly the same way. No problems with his so far either. As well as passing the screws through the sealant, also made sure the screw heads were sealed against the Maxxfan’s plastic frame.
Good luck with the fit
The one I took off my motorhome was the original one fitted by Carthago. It was fitted using non setting mastic and didn’t need screws on the outside because it was clamped down from the inside by clips, much like a kitchen sink in a worktop. Maxxfan would be better if the frame could be clamped in rather than screwed

If I was fitting one it would be non setting sealant and no screws or not fit it, why wouldn’t that work?I also helped a friend fit one to his van a few weeks ago in exactly the same way. I did consider it but didn’t want to risk it and so went for the safer option. Wasn’t sure the Dekaseal alone would hold it in.If I was fitting one it would be non setting sealant and no screws or not fit it, why wouldn’t that work?
I’ve put large rooflights in with just non setting sealant, probably a lot heavier than the maxxfan.

Just out of interest did you manage to get white dekasealI did consider it but didn’t want to risk it and so went for the safer option. Wasn’t sure the Dekaseal alone would hold it in.
No, I used black because that’s what was around the original roof light, and all of the others.Just out of interest did you manage to get white dekaseal
Nice one, did you use screws as well? All fitted easier than I thought has anybody managed to adapted the original blind to fit.

Yes so am I, with the quality of adhesive these days it seems much better to do it with no screws.Couldn't quite work out how he did those strips, but applaud doing it that way. I've seen cheaper Fiamma skylights that have loads of screws around the top flange like these Maxair's have and it's messy and asking for leaks. So many holes and not necessary when clamp mounts work better. A bit surprised they use that method (screws).
