I've just purchased a van complete with Maxview gazelle and TV.

The reception from the TV is very poor and I've tried to check what might be causing the problem. I've discounted the TV by plugging in another working one and the same poor reception exists.

The booster power light comes on when switched on.

Is it possible to check the aerial or booster in any way without replacing or getting an auto-electrician to look at it.

Many thnaks

one good reason......its omni-directional and tries to pull a signal anywhere through 360deg and as such, is crap.

they only really work if you are in line of sight of the transmitter array...or in other words, very close to the TV mast.

best option is a directional aerial.

Yes.. as said they are Crap....
1. Look to change it.
2. put up with it and hope you pitch up in a stronger signal area next time
3. Get a satellite system
4. Read more books or drink more wine...

Thanks for the replies. I have just had a conversation with a caravan supplier as I picked up my gas bottle and they can supply and fit a 530 for 190 pounds. What does everyone think? The one on Ebay is 128 delivered but I need a professional fitter.

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
Or perhaps one of these. Link Removed

Fitted to American RV's they wind up, then you rotate them from inside to point at the signal. They are ugly, but they do work well, especially with the Wingman add on.

They can be got on FleaBay Link Removed

or from MobileRV, RV Maintenance etc.
