mate phoned me his van will not start

:Angry::Angry: been at my mates all morning his van would not start i asked him when he last put diesel in coz in is back he as some tins then he says he bought some diesl off a man who knows a nother man ha ha more water than diesel.iv drained it out for him now any one got any ideas to get it runing for him

could it have gunge in the pump as well as water,if so this may also need cleaning or worse changing.Drain the full system replenish, then try :thumb:

If he has had a lot of water in his fuel he could be in trouble,i.e injectors and injection pump could have rust on machine faced internal surfaces.You did not say what type of engine,age first thing to do is change fuel filter,clean out low pressure fuel lines,if it is old type diesel crack open injector pipes crank engine so to flush out old fuel.Give injector pump a good bleed through
Fully charge battery and try to start,but give battery a rest after every 10 seconds of cranking.

he says he put fule in 4 days a go put only started it this morning it run for 3 mins then stoped and did not start agine

It wouldnt running on gunge and water. Theres a very good lesson learnt here.
Hes going to probably end up spending pounds trying to save a few shillings. People never learn do they.

No fuel additive that i know of, you will have to drain it and chuck it.
