Maps and co-ordinates (1 Viewer)

Getting Better
When trying to find places i.e.: aires and co ordinates are given i can't input them on google earth or google maps as the symbols are not on the iPad keyboard...

Am I missing somthing....? (Yeh ok... beside my brains)

How do people get around this...?

I look forward to some sensible awnsers but I know I'm going to get some :doh: ones...

I haven't got an IPad or Iphone, But on my laptop & tablet , I just use the N , E , W, in front of the numbers, I also haven't got the degree sign on either of my equipment.
i.e. N48.06791 W or - -2.96943 should give you Pontivy in Brittany

The degree sign ° on iPad you put your finger on number 0 hold and a degree sign will appear slide finger up to it and the let go ° mins and secs are your inverted commas.

Subscribers  do not see these advertisements

You can substitute a ' for a degree thingy, honest(y) only just found out where the degree is and ' always worked up to yet.:)

You should also be aware that there are several different ways of expressing coordinates. I don't think it matters which one you use for Google but it does for satnavs.

The three main ones are:

Degrees-minutes-seconds: N 48° 34' 8.6"

Degrees-decimal minutes: N 48° 34.143'

Decimal degrees: N 48.56905°

There are others but those are the main three you will come across. All the Aires uses the second one. Camper Contact uses decimal degrees.

There are plenty of free apps to allow you covert them. Just search for coordinate converter.

Both my Garmins have all three to choose from in settings.
