Hello All

We are attending a family event in the centre of Manchester in March I am struggling to find a site on the outskirts that we can stay on with access to public transport that would take us into the centre.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Last year we used a fantastic site in Strines (CL i think you call them?) quite a way out of town but 100m from the railway station that goes straight into the city. White House farm i think it’s name was

Another vote for Burrs , we use it all the time for gigs and cricket in Manchester.
You will need a cab to get from the site to the metro though , there is a bus but boy are they unreliable.

Agree with the comments on Strines and Burrs. Both sites are excellent for CMC members although Strines has a limited rail service and I recall Burrs was tram. New Mills has a CL with toilets and showers and two railways stations with good services to Manchester. New Mills is about half an hour train ride to Piccadilly. Trouble is, the New Mills CL gets booked up and who knows whether the trains will be running in March!

If you are keen on Strines, you can walk to New Mills or Marple (c two miles) for a better train service.

never used it but new mills has a caravan club 5 van site but its expensive.
Also a pub close to me again never stopped there but use the pub for meals now and again, five mins to A6 where there is a bus to town every 10 mins,https://hindshead.co.uk/

Simon, I did my courting in the Duke of York in the late 70s. Worked a treat - we married and still are. Went back to the DoY in December and had a good meal there with a pint of Timmy Tailor's.

(y) for Burrs Country Park but you need to book up (probably around now) as it is always full when we have been there.

I would avoid Elm Beds at Poynton as the access is dreadful and the site needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to a reasonable standard. Pity as it's in a great location.

I live in the cottages next to the Duke its a 60 yard stumble from the bar home.
