Last summer we drove down through France, across Pyranees, leaving England July 1st arriving Spain Aug 1st stayed in Spain till 20th Sept (we have a house there!) then returned to uk back through France, Verdon Gorge - an absolute must!- and arrived back in UK 10th Oct.
Never had a problem finding Aires etc on the way down in France but hardly any Aires or wild camping in Spain. Coming back stayed on Aires in France as most campsite seemed to be closed, plenty of Aires though.
Previous year, as our first venture abroad, we spent the whole of August iin France traveling to Yypes in Belgium to visit WW1 sites, good campsite central to town, then down to Annecy (chocablock with tourists) then up to Normandy through the Loire Valley which was our favorite bit and loads of lovely Aires, spent a week doing WW2 sites before coming back to UK.
France is far better for catering for campervans on Aires and also their municipal campsites are very good & cheap.
This year - in 3 weeks time - we are making our first venture to the snow in our camper with some of the other funsters....going to be an experience I think!
Have a good time whenever you go:thumb:
