We have one that came with the van, which is about 10" high, just like a small car aerial. I just plug it in and drop it on the roof of the van, tune in the TV and it works fine, albeit there are certain locations I get no signal.

I have never had any other type, so cannot comment on how it performs against others, but it saves making more holes in the roof.

If they are cheap, why not try it and see, before going down the more expensive route.

    TV Ariel

Hi we have the Avtex Didgital Aeriel we bought ours from Discover about £35, its not magnetic its suction we just attatch it above the door on the outside of the van with the wire through the window it works off your 12v connection.
We have used it inside the van when it was very wet but the reception was not as good.It works for analogue tv also.
    Hope this helps.- Sue
