M6 closures

The M6 has a closure at J33 southbound for bridge repairs this weekend and the next 3 weekends.
My friend left her house in Lancaster at 10:30 am to visit me ( an hours journey) and has still not arrived at 6:20pm!
AVOID.

I drove onto the M6 motorway at jtn 35 to come off at jtn 34 a 6 mile journey it took over an hour before i could exit. Why are there no signs warning that the motorway is closed.
And i missed my appointment.

Yes my friend went on at J34 and took about 6 hours to reach J33 to exit

I feel for your friend, she will have been funneled onto the A6 which itself is a bottle neck at the best of times.

Rats... Taking daughter to uni in Lancaster in 3 weeks, so looks like we will get caught trying to come back south.

I think that must be the bridge that was hit by a lorry about three years ago and has been supported on one side by hydraulic jacks, on the day it happened we were heading up there, it took two and a half hours to get to the Blackpool M55 turn off, I then swung round and onto the southbound side of the M6 and was back in Manchester 25 minutes later.I use junction 33 to and from my caravan last Sunday all southbound traffic had to come of at junction 33, but on Thursday coming back everything was clear. I’m going up on Tuesday so should be clear, was going to come home on Saturday but I better change that to Monday/Friday.
