M20 Closed Again This Weekend

How does this affect the tunnel,on Sunday afternoon please.

You will not be able to get there via the M20. Follow diverson and have PLENTY of time to spare.

The tunnel is junction 11a on M20. M20 closed between junctions 9 and 11 so the previous 2 junctions going south. You could take M2 and A2 and cut across on the A260 as I expect the local roads around those junctions will be very busy.
Good luck, we will be following you the next weekend and I hope job done by then !

Just realised I am going to Dover on Sunday !!!
Better allow a bit more time.... Cheers for the heads up (y)

What happens if we take the A2 after Dartford ,will that be any better.

Take the A2 which runs into M2, which then runs into A2 again. As said before, take the A260 after Canterbury, however based on past occasions when they've shut the M20 it's going to be very, very slow.

So which way do I take to Canterbury?

Oh great!! The closures got us on the way out 3 weeks ago. Detours were very slow and they even had roadworks on them. Returning this Sunday morning so out caught again. ??

Come off the M25 as soon as you're over the bridge following signs to Dover, onto A2. The update to my post didn't take before you responded.

chaser the above is an old article but it shows a little map with the possible routes.

The A2 is going to be a nightmare so if you can take any roads that keep you off it I would go that way even if it adds 20-30 miles to your journey.

Returning this Sunday morning and caught again

You could always take the scenic route round on the A259, though that would probably take a whole lot longer :) One of those times to make sure you have lots of coffee available (y)

After driving for six weeks on continental roads i hardly seen a bit of road works or potholes its like driving on dirt roads in the UK in comparison.
you can certainly see ware our moneys been going and it's not on our roads that for sure

Agree, however to be fair they have finally resurfaced the M20 from ET to Junc 10, just can't use it this weekend :)

So, who else apart from us and tonka is going to Dover or the tunnel this weekend? Are we going to be in a convoy around Kent?

We are hoping to be a bit further down this time, but if we get seriously delayed we might be joining you.

We are hoping to get the tunnel Sunday night, will we be able to drive to junction 9 at Ashford ...?
Will probably be at citi-Europe Sunday night, might see tonka there in his autotrail....?

Yes Garry, leave at J9 onto A20 but it will probably be slow, rejoin at J11 for the tunnel

Thanks Helen, I usually stop at Sainsbury’s for fuel and any last minute buys and thought I’d pick up the a20 from there...

Will give ourselves plenty of time...??

Phew that's lucky we are going over on Saturday but overnighting at Black Horse Farm on Friday. As other have pointed out it will be very very slow on the diversion route so give yourself plenty of time and some.

Is that the route you would do from Dartford or the route tuscancouple recommends via A2 Sunday dinner time , supposed to catch 16.20 train

Coming from Dartford I would use the A2 route and turn south on the A260 signed for the tunnel and Folkestone through Denton & Hawkinge then take the A(M)20 back to the tunnel. This route takes you slightly past the tunnel but is a fairly easy one.

We actually do that route sometimes for a change, so that's the one then (y) (y)
