Lymes disease on the increase.

Got it one summer a few of years ago. Thought it was an insect bite on my thigh and the spot got itchy and the ring got bigger and bigger till I had a bulls-eye red ring/rash 9 ins across. An observant nurse practitioner spotted it when I was sitting in a surgery waiting to pick up a prescription. Not a nice disease had it remained untreated.

Agree, much more prevalent in UK than it used to be. I don’t wear shorts in long grass, for this and their reasons.

google how it effected Matt Dawson….awful

Ticks were dreadful earlier in month in Scottish Highlands. Put washing basket down in convenient rock then brought it in and put it on kitchen island. A tiny tick started crawling along the island. I also got a bit whilst painting the shed (wearing socks and long trousers).

We keep a jam jar 1/2 filled with meths snd deposit them in there when we remove them from dogs, people, floor, kitchen island … it’s getting quite full!

It's a bugger if you get Infected, like I unfortunately did in the nineties...some very nasty effects on your whole body can be experienced....even death is possible, which didn't happen in my case as you might guess. 🤔

Pick at least 3 or 4 crawling over each dog when we get back from our walks, we use brevecto for the dogs so the ticks die if they latch on, someone we know spent many many weeks in hospital with Lymes, it didn’t help that it took them a while to diagnose it.

We use a product on our cats, it works great if they get bitten, the ticks die pretty quickly, but it doesn't stop them hitching a lift into the house, we have killed quite a few lately, but touch wood.....

My dog got it after a holiday on exmoor, blood test when he got I'll didn't show it up, he had to be put to sleep.

Shirl got a tick bite on her calf a few years ago.
Usual bullseye about 4" across.
She went to a 'walk-in' doctors who said "how can a tick bite through your jeans"
Errrr! Would you believe It crawled up under my jeans.
Stupid doctor was a bit put out with that response.
