Full Time 2011-2013, now part timers!
We’ve been in France since last Wednesday, & before we came I got a USwitch deal with Lycamobile for my phone for unlimited phone & text, 100 international minutes, & 21GB data discounted to £2.90 for 3 months. I checked that all the data allowance could be used In the EU, both in the T&Cs, & also on the phone. I wanted a different carrier, as the MiFi is Tiekom & hubbys is LEBARRA, both Vodafone - Lyca is O2. All settings were done before we left the UK, & all went well until yesterday morning, when the data suddenly stopped working. Customer services is a joke, & I’ve spent more than 40 minutes overall on the phone to them. I’ve been told variously (depending on who I talk to) that there is a technical problem, that I only have 5 GB to use in the EU, & that my settings must be wrong! It’s impossible to talk to the technical department, their supervisor or the sales department, or indeed anyone else! I’ve been cut off, left hanging on & shouted down! I’ve emailed them & told them I will complain to OFFGEM, but that doesn’t help me now! To add insult to injury, they keep sending me texts telling me I can use my plan minutes, texts & data in the EU with no extra charge - I’ve had about 6 of these so far! 🤬🤬Tomorrow I will put my husbands sim in my phone & vice versa, as he doesn’t use his much, & cancel a soon as I get back! Thank goodness for the Tiekom sim, & Camino, who knows the meaning of customer service! Rant over - just needed to get it off my chest!

If it’s anything like Lebara abroad, we’ve found that you do have to sometimes keep resetting the APN settings, they seem to “drift” off again. Nick has it in his phone as does a friend of ours who found it a right pain whilst on a Med cruise. She’d have to reset everything at every new port, it would take a few hours to connect by which time they were heading back to the boat.

They were having to reset everything not just the APN bits. The MMSC, MMC proxy etc bits, beyond me I’m afraid. It may be cheap but it’s no consolation when it doesn’t flippin work.

When I was in France with my Plusnet SIM in my MiFi, I was finding I had to manually select which network I wanted to connect to, to get any kind of data.

smarty worked seamlessly in Poland & Italy this year. Sadly, not the *@**@*** same in the UK. or at Home when the only local TX goes down for Maintenance.
