LV Motorhome Insurance Not Renewing

Don’t bother with Gallagher’s, trying to get a quote from them after LV took me very nearly 2 weeks and……

LV were £441 last year and Gallaghers quote was £3900.00

yes that’s correct 😱😱😱
For me Gallaghers were 3 x LVs price last year. I think they are just hoping customers will roll over to them rather than looking around.

Was expecting the worst yesterday when having to notify change of storage address for the van, spoke to India, no issue updated and even due a small refund.

I thought they may want to cancel policy immediately. New insurance certificate received.

Young lady very pleasant and had good English and understanding

Well I won't even be bothering to give them a call if that's their game.

as from today LV has been taken over by ALLIANZ and all info goes to India
Not sure where you got this information from.

As of 31st December 2019 Allianz Holdings PLC became 100% owner of LV General Insurance (home, vehicles etc). The remainder of LV (Life Insurance, Pensions, Savings etc) was sold to Bain Capital in 2020.

Since 1st January 2020, Vehicle insurance (including motorhomes) has been sold by Allianz, trading as LV.
Allianz SE — the parent company of Allianz — is headquartered in Munich, Germany. It seems the use of the LV brand is being phased out in the UK — a full drop is planned by Allianz in 2026.

Currently going through renewal following LV withdrawal from the MH market. Last renewal with LV was £456 inc Euro Breakdown with Britannia. The best I can get currently is with Caravanguard for £750.

On the plus side my multi trip annual travel insurance with LV has been reduced by £170!! So on balance not sooooo bad.🤣🤣

We ended up with Adrian Flux. The process was not too bad. However, take note of the lack of a full windscreen cover if you have an A-class.

Just to round out I’ve gone with Caravanguard at £715 including Eurpeon breakdown. I must of tried 20+ companies! They offer 270 days in Europe which is a bonus and no 90 day limit for individual trips. LV only offered 180 days total and max of 90 days in a single trip both of which we found restricting. Sad to lose the Morocco Green Card but hey ho.

Today I received the letter from LV stating they no longer insure motorhomes, so I need to start searching for multi vehicle insurance as I have, at the moment, 2 cars and the motorhome cover with them. Bit of a pain, and I doubt if anyone will come close on price.

Not quite the end. I filled in one last quote to Safeguard, previously discounted as too high in earlier years, and they came up trumps £588. That includes 365 days in Europe and AA breakdown covering the same, unlimited windscreen etc, etc. well chuffed.

You might be surprised.
In a similar position to you. Motorhome, car and home contents and building insurance with LV.
Have renewed all separately and it's come out a lot cheaper than the multi-insurance policy with LV.
Try using Topcashback etc.

Just renewed my LV via Gallagher, £475 for van on none COSA storage, only slightly more than LV last year and better than I could get elsewhere. Next cheapest was £649, new plan is through Axa.

Just in the process of finalising the annual ring a round for insurance, for the last two years have been with LV. At the moment Gallagher have offered a competitive quote, but have to speak with them and review the small print as I am concerned it might not be like for like . Has anyone else used them for a A class + £140k MH?

Yes

After being with LV for quite a few years at sub £500 for our Motorhome, Gallaghers after being useless at actually sending me a quote finally sent one through for just under £4800.00

Bye 👋

Surely must be a typo, but either way not good

100% def not a typo as I called them to confirm and also asked them to requote and it came back the same.

TBH they weren’t the 1st to break the £3-4k barrier

Eventually went with NFU who put all the extras and valuation in writing and came in at £961

We decided to bale the MH out of LV before they kicked us out and we ended up with Adrian Flux. A 50% hike on premiums. We have now moved our two cars away from LV.

had an email from gallager, so called them quoted £339 with cover by KGM ,which is not much more than LV last year, got a while yet so will ring round might try Adrian Flux as need to get my zephyr insured and on the road again

Just in process of renewing our as been with LV for some years and two best quotes including UK and Eu breakdown were from Club Care at £647.82 and Comfort at £648.89 both required a tracker to be fitted due to value of van which I have never had so extra expense there although I have got one for £189 fitted and 24/7 monitoring for £139 per year or £455 lifetime of ownership.
NFU quoted me over £1000 but did not require tracker?
