Hi, looking at buying 2.8jtd 53 plate , whats to look for problem wise?, we have looked at hundreds of motorhomes but will be doing lots of miles so for example swift kon tiki is too big as we need maximum mpg, there is only 2 of us plus 2 dogs so 2 berth would be fine, very sick of ebay scams now I realise how much all homes are worth and find prices pretty horrifying even for old campers, any help would be much appreciated. steve and nade.

We had one a few years ago. Leaked in the over cab both sides which was expensive to fix. Apart from that it was quite a good van, though some of the fittings were cheap (plastic shelf supports for instance which I had to replace with ones that didn't break when you looked at them)

Damp test is absolutely vital

Don't get hung up on mpg. Frontal area has much more influence than size or weight so most coachbuilts are slightly better than most A class. Otherwise just go for the vehicle that appeals most. Getting the internal layout you want is probably most important.

Our ringleader Jim does a brilliant motorhome checklist/buying guide, well worth it. Welcome to fun and good luck with getting the right van for you
