Ladder to the roof bed is in two sections that until now have slid together and come apart with no problem at all. After leaving it assembled for a while recently it refused to come apart. Tried heat and cold, tug of war with family members and finally attached it to a rail in the garage at home and hit it many times with a mallet and it finally came apart. Tried silicone spray but it has made no difference. No sign of physical damage to the socket or the inserts. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks

I have this problem with a mobile scaffold. I rubbed the plastic parts down with 80 grade sand paper.

Try carbon paste used to stop carbon bike parts become fussed together esp with alu parts! Ideal battery!

We had a similar problem, now I just leave it connected and store it on top of the mattress under the pop top.

Wow! So many helpful replies so soon. Will try them all in order - perhaps not Vicks!
Just embarrassed that I was so intent on solving the problem that I failed to see the alternative - thanks golly. Might stop the ladder rattling so much as well.

Silicon spray would have been my suggestion but i see that you have tried that.
Rub down with some sand paper seems a next "step". (y)

Thought it was a euphemism for something !!! :dance2::dance2::getmecoat:

Don’t lubricant it. Crap will just stick to it, and mark other furnishings.

I would just leave it in one piece and store it on top of mattress.
Ours is a one piece wooden one and that stays on top of mattress with the ‘hooks’ at the top of ladder facing into the mattress!

Leaving it in one piece and storing on mattress it is! Thanks everyone!

Hi there. Take care with glass paper or emery cloth. It can leave a scratched surface that attracts dust and so may stick again. If you can fine some, use 3000 grit wet and dry paper to produce a polished surface when you are done. Finish with t cut or similar to provide a slippery surface D
