Evening Campers...

I'm considering acquiring a 1999 VW LT35 based EMC / Town & Country Vixen Campervan.
I'd be very grateful for any info anyone may have regarding reliability, issues, build-quality etc for both the van itself and also the conversion.

Ta very much indeed..:thumb:

I run a Lt35 van (not camper) 158bhp, from new on a 53 plate.
The van has been fantastic, and has only suffered from an intercooler problem, which is common. I have had to replace it twice in 135,000.
Still starts on the button, and is 100% reliable, but is thirsty.
I average about 20mpg, but it`s well loaded most of the time.
I see plenty of them with well over 200k on the clock

Greetings,
We've just handed back a LT35 motorhome that we hired as part of our holiday here in New Zealand.
The 'van behaved impeccably in the time we had it with lots of low down grunt.
It averaged just about 24mpg which can't be argued against when one considered the terrain which was very Úp and Down' and further considering that the vehicle as a whole had done 395,000 Kms.
I would have one of the VW based motorhomes in a heartbeat but unfortunately it doesn't get used as a platform on the kind of 'van we want.

Deal done and a fair bit of work required to get her into shape but she's well on the way....:thumb:

many many years! since I was a kid
look very very closely at any rusting as the earlier ones although mechanically good were prone to lots of rust

Thanks for the advice, although I've got it now anyway.
It's very clean and solid for a 15 year old van with just a few small bubbles around the corners of some of the windows.
I had the previous owner MOT it before I did the deal and it only had a couple of minor advisories so I'm pretty happy with it.
Internally it's had a hard couple of years since the last owner bought it but we're currently in the process of re-upholstering and general fettling / updating.
Hoping to have her up to scratch by mid February, fingers crossed.
