Hi all, leading on from the withdrawal of Calor aluminium bottles, I'm seriously thinking of going for the LPG under-slung tank option.

It will fit snugly between the ALKO chassis members, as long as I'm not greedy and settle for a 15kg 230mm tank.

Cost are quite high (circa £1000inc) but another question is what impact it might have with my insurance. Does anyone have any experience on this?

When we had our Augusta we had a 55 litre tank (44 litres @ 80% fill) ...supplied and fitted by Autogas 2000 in Thirsk.
The cost was much less than £1000 at around £800 and there would be little saving with a smaller tank and certainly less inconvenience.

Hi.
Another one for Autogas 2000 Thirsk, have it done there because they can manufacture any brackets to fit spot on,on site. I think you can overnight there if having a tank fitted.

Edit. I would try for at least 20L . We had a 20l and went for a 30l,sometimes now wonder why:unsure:.

Thanks Gromett, you're right it's 38Ltrs total capacity 230mm x 1014mm which won't protrude below the chassis members (250mm) . Autogas say I can retain the ability to back-up with a bottle in the store, which is handy as I do have French and Spanish pig tails (but you can't see them with these baggy trousers).

Hi.
Thanks to Gromett,i have learned something today,so the day has not been wasted. Gromett and i obviously went to different schools, had he attended "Stalag 17" with myself and other .......Skolarz. he would have been distracted by the sight of Peggy S. playing Netball in the play ground during Maths lesson (Boys down stairs, girls upstairs...DAMN!). Even before,Health and safety/works contracts/conduct unbecoming.... ALL our class were on Final Written Warning, about watching Peggy S............ Instead of 1+1=5? Close? 'ish?
Happy days. See below, what chance did maths have against Peggy S. I even forgot t0 put the quote in first..................
Tea Bag:whistle:

He is going for a 15Kg which is 30 Litres.

How about a longer rather than a fatter tank. Yes definitely go with Autogas at Thirsk. Talk it through with them to get the best solution for you.
