Does anyone have recent experience of the difficulty/ease of getting LPG in France.

I ask because here in Ipswich UK, my usual source, Morrisons, had been out of it for three weeks, had a delivery yesterday and expects to be out of it again by tomorrow.

Intending to go to France mid May for 5 weeks. Tend to want to top it up once during our trip. When we last went, in pre Covid and Ukraine war times we had no difficulty. Wondering if we might have difficulty now.

We tried 2 places close ish to Calais but they didn’t have any or were out of action. On the A1 home the first few garages were out of stock but one did have some

I've never had any difficulty.
Sounds to me like it's due to the scarcity in U.K so Brits are getting off the ferry with empty tanks or filling up before going home.

Yes we were trying to fill up before home! The first attempt was around 60 miles from Calais on A26. The second at Calais.

Had no problem getting LPG in France when we were driving through a few weeks ago. Just used Mylpg.eu app to find them. If you use toll roads nearly all the service areas will have an LPG pump.

We will be driving through again to get back home early next week and intend to fill up close to the tunnel.

Thanks everyone, I think you have answered my question. Doesn’t sound like a problem.

I'm not sure why LPG is so much more readily available 'over there' but assume it's because it's cheaper as a vehicle fuel than petrol or diesel.
In the 11 years I spent working at our subsidiaries in France and Germany in 80/90's all our company cars (about 20 cars) were always LPG powered although IIRC they were dual fuel so could also run on petrol.

Returned from France last week. No problems anywhere (though didn't go near to Calais). Filled up with LPG in Dieppe at 89 cents per ltr (Auchen) No problems in South around Carcassonne or Gruissan though prices do fluctuate - highest we saw was around €1.03

Came over on Friday. GPL pump coned off at Auchan Boulogne. Stopped at Total station near Alencon. Coned off. Stopped at station in Alencon. GPL advertised at 9.999 and I couldn’t find the pump so assumed not available. So no luck so far even though myLPG.eu said available for all of them. Happy hunting.

I tried to get some this morning at Eclerc, at Boulogne, however due to where the pump is sited and size of our Moho (though only 7.5m) and our gas inlet on the offside, I couldn't get near enough and it took me about ten minutes trying to reverse out of where I thought it would reach. The boss was a bit huffy and puffy, but it was all down to me trying to be clever !!

If your filler is on the nearside, you should be ok!!

On a brighter note I did fill up with diesel!

PS. I did fill with gas a few weeks ago at the Hyper U in Challans on the Vendée
