I know that propane can operate long after brass monkeys have gone home crying . But it was about -10 in the night and my brews have definitely been taking longer to boil this morning. I suppose an almost empty bottle doesn't help. Watched kettles an all that ;)

-5 here last night.. Advantage of an PVC is the gas bottle is indoors so when we go off in the van it works perfectly.

On a similar theme, can more experienced Funsters advise re the content of GPL coming out of the forecourts in Portugal or Spain.

I think I've read on here that it's a mix of Butane and Propane, and, because of the warmer temps. would it be inadvisable to fill up and then take said mix back to freezing (assumption) Blighty in Feb.

Would it be wise to run on half empty tank(s) and fill up when I've got back home.
I would appreciate the response.

Spanish autogas is a mix of propane and butane. We have had gas heater fail as on cold morning bottle could not provide enough pressure. Now use repsol propane bottle. I think portugal is like uk with all propane . France is a mix that i am told is seasonally adjusted so will probably be ok. Have raised this previously and been assured others go skiing and heat with french autogas.

Where did you last fill up @Jim, as mentioned Spanish gas is a mix I think 65% butane in the southern parts.

Still freezing here, although sunny.

Just spent the last two hours rodding blocked sewers for self and neighbours:confused:. Not pleasant but at least the cold kept the smell down.(y)

I think lunch will be taken a little late today.

On top of a hill in Durham this morning. A bit bleak but very nice. Here for a month or so so I'm sure it will get much colder. LPG seems to be standing up well but we get household supply hookup and use that mostly.

I found that on cold days giving the bottle a good shake would revitalise the gas supply.
