It looks like it absorbed a lot of energy. But yeah, didn't really contain the incident.

A car joining the carriageway decided to try to get Infront of us and caused Sheree to swerve to avoid them, we hit a car in the middle lane then were rear ended and ended up here

Speculating: looks like the barrier was hit almost straight on. You can see a 90 degree bend in each bit of barrier as it's wrapped round each side of the van.

You must be shaken mentally aswell as physically, hope eveyone is OK

Thank goodness you’re both ok. Could’ve been a lot worse by the looks of your van . I bet you are both a bit sore and have been thrown about a lot .
Hopefully the insurance will play ball and sort you a new van out .

I wondered about that, thought you may have removed them when deployed to get out of the seats.You have both been very lucky. The van can be replaced.

Wow, what an awful experience. It looks as though the nearside tyre has burnt off but no sign of fire damage other than that area, strange.
