Does anyone know where the horn on a 1999 Ducato is likely to be hiding?!

For the life of me I can't find it anywhere!

It's stopped working recently, I've checked all the fuses and I've pulled the steering wheel cover off and cleaned up all the old brass contacts and checked the wires, all seems ok. So I'm now thinking dodgy wire or dodgy earth on the horn (it's been intermittent for about a year now) or the horn has just given up the ghost.

Problem is, I can't sound it in order to find it

Where have Fiat hidden it?!

Ours is under the W/wash bottle. we had the same problem as you, it was down to the wires being corroded, we think from years of over filling the W/Wash bottle and it dripping on the wires. Cleaned then up, reconnected and now everything A OK

I found my horn :X3:

It was indeed behind the bumper, hidden away under the near side headlight.

You need to be some kind of contortionist to get to it though!!

And @rangitira hit the nail on the head, the wires had those blue crimp connectors on them, someone's obviously repaired this before, but they didn't have rubber boots on them and were so corroded that both wires literally came away from the connectors the instant I touched them.

Thankfully there was a bit of slack so I was able to cut the wires back about two inches (no corrosion) and fit new connectors, with boots.

At one point I thought the job may have been far easier if I just took the bumper off. I thought about removing the headlight too but that wouldn't have given me much more access.

The whole job was performed with me laying on my back, twisted in to all manner of positions, trying to reach things that weren't meant to be reached from under the van.

Thanks for the help everyone, I can toot again (y)
