After failing miserably to get any ET tickets and on reflection realising mainland Europe would be very busy we decided to do the trip we've been putting off for a while, namely travel to NI/Ireland for a few weeks so ..........
We're here!
Crossed over on the 8.00 am ferry (P&O, sorry but it had to be done!) and are now in Glenarm, we arrived around 11.30 am and parked up, next to use a chap parked and we asked what the road closed signs were for and were pleasantly surprised when he told us there was an Orange parade due to start at noon (it's Orange day today so bank holidays for today and tomorrow). We saw a good few Lodges marching, groups of accordion, flue, bagpipe, drum etc players, and it was good to see the kiddies helping with the flag holding etc. It was cool and overcast but fortunately the drizzle held off until after the parade had ended (well the first one that is ... they did it all again about 3 hours later!). The bonus for us was the casually dressed chap who spoken to who walked with us and became our 'guide' to it all and he was great ... turns out he was Gordon Lyons the Economy and Tourism Minister! I did the one thing I have never done before, I asked for a 'selfie' to prove to you lot that I'd met him (despite the photo of me being awful I'm still willing to show it! ).

Gordon Lyons: A Northern Ireland economy delivering benefits to all
It has been a successful year for Northern Ireland business in the face of continuing challenges, and that is reflected in the calibre of the companies on this year’s Belfast Telegraph Top 100 list.
