Hi
We are traveling down from the North West and looking for somewhere to overnight on Christmas Day somewhere just south of Birmingham close to the M40 M42 we are heading for Portsmouth. Is there anybody out there with any ideas.

Dave

Not exactly anywhere near where you intend but, if I were you, I'd drive all the way to Portsmouth
and stay at Port Solent.

It's a mere 10mins from the city and there is not only free parking but restaurants, shops, pubs
and even a cinema on site.

The Coordinates to the first roundabout on site are;

N50.839296, W01.097152

The Services on the M6 Toll will be empty and likely quiet overnight am eye watering £30 though.

Penkridge car park for free here.

CMC have Chapel Lane close by as well.

PM sent, too much private info to post on public forum

You could try Hill farm CL near alvechurch B48 7EU

Have to say Im thinking of doing the same, we both have 24,25,26 and 27 off, first time we'll have had Christmas off together for over a decade as we're both s.
Can't think of anywhere to go really from Bedford, likely head for the east coast somewhere I think for a few nights and likely somewhere near a pub either a site (unlikely as I expect all to be closed) or free/wild/pub car park.

Quite a few options showing on Search for Sites.

There are, however a couple of roundabouts before you get to that one which also has a very vicious sleeping policeman just as you approach it.

For a halfway stopover, Hatton Country World CL, CV35 8XA. About 5 miles NW of J15 M40.

Have a mooch through these..I used pitchup search days 25 th dec...have a good chek though sometimes the listings are wrong

I thought I'd take a look too and found 3 nights in Heacham near Hunstanton as a rough guide, ok £112 for 3 nights, can live with that, but then it's another £30 on top for EHU AND if I wanted to use my pull out awning, ie just the attached canopy it's another £75!

Think I'll give that a miss!

Both C&MHC & C&CC clubs have sites at Sandringham just down the road from Hunstanton which are usually open over Christmas.

Cirencester CMHC site, we’re there Christmas Day, so you could pop over for a cuppa. Port Solent is a perfect stop before your ferry. Think we have the car park attendants number as you’ll need to let him know that you are parking overnight

What on earth are they supplying you with when they charge you £25 per night to pull out your awning ? Usury plain and simple .

Upton on Severn or tweksbury or Worcester little out of your way but all have overnight, Pershore or even Stratford upon Avon. It depends how far off the motorway you want to go

This pub/restaurant is just near the NEC, very close to M42. Allows motorhome stopovers if you are eating there. You’ll find it on Search for Sites.

Try here, lovely place and owners.

Just off the M42 near Shirley. Village of Hockley Heath in walking distance.

The pitches look like they are grass but they are hard standing, using those waffle mat things that the grass grows through.

Another vote for kingsbury water parl, lovely site with great facilities, I can also recommend kingfisher caravan park in Gosport, it is on the seafront and has a cracking club house and only 15 minutes drive from the ferry port.

Decided what Im doing now, Fleetwood. Not exciting but we'll go by the sister in law on the way back and spend Boxing day with her and go out for a meal. Family duty done as well as some time to ourselves. (y)

Only if you're Max Verstappen. It could take you longer than that to get to the Fareham Quay roundabout. Double it and you'll be a bit nearer.
