As per the title but needs to be able to accommodate a large MH. It seems that my normal place (CR Garage (Ascot Drive)) is no longer trading.

We’re booked into Alan’s Test Centre on Shaftesbury Street at the end of the month. Had cars done there in the past, this’ll be the first time for us with a motorhome.

I use Alan's Mansfield branch & they're really good?

Meant to also say they’re independent so don’t do repairs. Which can be a negative as I once had a fail that only needed a simple bulb replacement (must have gone during the test)! But you can be happy that it’s an honest test as they’re not touting for business. So if you’re happy it won’t need work...

If you think it will need work, you could try Nigel at the Windmill Garage off Mansfield Road at the Parker Centre on Mansfield Rd, Derby. He’s an ex motorhomer and has done work for me on our van before; but he only has a small space and sends larger vehicles over the road from where he is to a garage with a larger hoist for MoTs.

CTS Tyres and Servicing, Parker Centre Derby - I have used them for all my MOTs - motorhomes and cars.

First class!

It seems that I’m too big for the Derby and Burton garages but would be ok for the Mansfield one.

However, this place was also recommended and is closer than Mansfield so have booked in with them.

don't know your area and also assume your vehicle maynot be class 4 but had test on wifes car they do class 4 camper/motorhomes as well £29.59 euro tyre, also formula 1 are doing them for £27.50 . and Halfords auto centers were charging £20 if done with service and matched ats without service incidently ATS were doing for £20 with a service as well

I have used Alans and EDM both excellent. Had my old Frankia tested at EDM the lights were adjusted wrong for uk, the tester had a pair of stick on beam deflectors in stock fitted them and gave me a pass only charged £8.00 extra :giggle: didn't ask just did it.
Good luck with your test.

I own an mot station in Burton and we do loads of motorhomes, BUT we can not do the tag axle ones these are 4 inches too long for our ramp.

Give Gaz a call on 01283 540199 or book online here www.filmersgarageburton.co.uk we charge £54.85 for motorhomes with free retest if required, we do not look for work as we are staked out with work every day regardless

Hi Shawn,

I was going to have it done at your place (enquired about it when I had work done on my Fiat 500 while you were still there) but I had a call (a couple of weeks ago) from Gaz to say that the tag axle was too big. It was this that prompted my enquiry on here. ?

Hi Shawn,

Not sure if you’re aware or not that the wheelbase of tag axles varies (they are not all the same).

In comparison to some tags, ours is relatively short (but with the penalty of a longer overhang).

The distance between the centres of our front and rear most axles is 4.8 metres.

Hi Ian

Rang the lads today and measured our mot ramp and although it might just fit on i dont want to waste your time driving to us then it not quite fitting on properly so we can do the MOT correctly, lock to lock etc etc so may be best if you ring Nick at EDM sorry im just not confident enough to say yes 100%

No problem Shawn. Thanks for following it up.

Thanks again.
