We stayed at Angles sur l' Anglin yesterday, very pretty town, the aire is a field next to the car park with no facilities but very quiet. Chavigny is a bigger town (old and new) close by has a market day, supermarket, petrol station. The aire is more or less a car park - closest large city is Poitiers.

enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Blaye Aires - basically a car park just outside walled medieval city.
Gastes Aires - large aires directly on a lake , nothing there except for one bar/restaurant but lovely area.
Actually there is free aire just outside the citadel at Blaye on a chateau vineyard that is free AND free electricity !! Its in all the aires, park4night etc. We use park4night mainly to find the free aires that are just a little bit different

May I refer you to the I-Camping car site here which is probably the definitive site for Aires de Camping Car in France. Although it's all in French it is very easy to follow and has full information on every aire together with photos and occasionally a video. Sites are laid out by "departments" so are easy to find. There is also an option to download, in every format you could want, POI files that you can then transfer to your navigation device. If you want you can also download a PDF file which lists them all too - but it is quite big.

Signup for their newsletter and you get a weekly email digest of new/updated aires.

The A75 gives you the best option of quick travel when travelling.

I might be tempted by Pezenas, wild camp around lac du salagou, Millau, drive around the Jonte and Tarn gorges, then Montpeyroux (beautiful village and cracking sunset if conditions are right) Sully, Fontainebleu then either Montreuil or Arras (as long as you can put up with the peripherique). That should give you a flavour of France.

That’s a great guide thanks for taking the time. Ian
