Hi All,
On a bend and oncoming truck had a strap with hook on flailing outward towards us - BANG! O/S long arm mirror broken, lower glass missing and surround totalled.
Truck gone by time I regained composure and pulled in safely.
Looking for replacement long arm mirror complete for Fiat Ducato Autotrail 2018 - any recommendations from where to purchase??? Have seen them on eBay et al for less than £80 up to £300 original - tried wing mirror man and no stock until Jan/Feb 22.
Anyone tried eBay ones? Any issues?

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards
Trikeman. 😉

I bought one of the cheap ones from Ebay, it was easy to fit and the electric mirrors worked perfectly. It was 5 years ago so don't have seller details. Just try to buy from a UK seller.

I've found this company quite helpful in the past:

<Broken link removed>

I've fitted a few of the eBay ones.
All fitted physically fine.
On some of them there were problems with the indicator repeater where either it needs a yellow bulb because the lamp outer shell is white or the bulb is too small in terms of it's wattage and the ECU thinks the bulb has failed.
Most problems fairly easily overcome. Can't bring myself to pay the price of a new OEM one.

I have found the cheap ones tend to move inward when traveling at speed, annoying but not as annoying as £380 ! also ours has its temp sensor in the arm, so ai drilled a hole in the new one to match the old and popped the sensor in there and it worked fine.

Coastal Motorhomes normally have stock. Check their website or give them a phone, they are very helpfull.

Jake Royd Having the top mounted mirrors on my Carthago I bloody hope not🤯🤯🤯
You are lucky , your mirrors are not at white van man height.
Having said that it reminds me that in a narrow street somewhere I don't recall my mirror gently followed a man's head along the pavement. Road too narrow to do otherwise. Vehicles behind must have been wondering what was going on.

No, they’re at lorry height😳😳

Wonder which is worse? 😁

Make sure it is for a righthand drive motorhome. If it's for a lefthand drive it doesn't "set" in the correct place and is non adjustable. There are some on ebay that don't make that distinction clear. Guess how I know🙁🙁

Just check it is actually long arm - I thought mine was, then measured it just before I bought a replacement part for mine (similar story); turns out, mine is a medium!

I might add , you have to consider mirrors as consumable items on a motorhome 🙂
Interesting statement , and generally i would agree . However , it's becoming more often for insurance claims being made to cover mirror replacement costs . I've just replaced both my front mirrors due to age , the left hand mirror and arm arrived a couple of months ago , costing 580 quid , and imported from Germany . I've had the right for some time in the garage . Some heavy truck mirrors can cost significant amounts , matching even beating that figure , and these new camera oriented mirrors a couple of grand a pop . I have heard the camera versions are linked to the vehicle ecu , as well , and will actually prevent the engine starting if one is broken . Now i don't know if that's true , but it's something to think about .

Recently , i had my right hand mirrors wiped out on a heavy , by a skip truck . Skip driver never stopped , leaving me to limp back to the yard . I knew he was gonna hit it despite my getting hard against the kerb , if i hadn't he would have struck the offside of the cab . He was on my side of the road , coming round a corner , and driving like Nigel mansell . Fortunately my truck was an older merk , so had the cheaper mirrors fitted . It was back on the road within 20 minutes , as the company had spares in the yard . Any of the other truck's would have been vor'd . There's been a lot of talk made about new drivers in the pipeline , so you can expect this to happen more often . With luck i'll be off the road before they get on . Again i hear they have insurance issues to overcome , which will slow them down .
