Look what has appeared on top of my windscreen or in it. It's six inch long. What is it and what should I do? I've had the motorhome from new to 11 years old.

Yes its delamination, new windscreen time if you want the integrity of the glass to remain, the lamination is there to stop objects and glass shards should something hit the windscreen

Thanks. Having read what you've said, I talked to my insurance windscreen expert I who said will have to be my pocket as it's wear. It'll be cheaper than buyer a new motorhome!

Mistake number one, talking to insurance before anything has happened.

Expect a 2,5k bill. :-(

I would use till a chip appears and spreads…….

Then claim on the insurance.
Too late now. He's already told them.

That was a silly thing to do.
A stone chip could have started the delamination.

I would try seak and seal, or Captain Tolleys.
Had this happen on my Burstner, applied seak ans seal along the edge. Capillary action drew the liquid in. Mine was only about 30mm. It all but disappeared.

And here’s me all these years thinking everyone of Fun were honest wholesome people🤔 and yet so many Funsters saying you cocked it up and can no longer claim on insurance 😳….😉

Maybe a strip of vinyl wrap slightly tinted, more cosmetic but would take your mind off it until some other screen damage takes place.

They cant claim for the delamination, if it’s legal though and purely cosmetic, nothing stopping them carrying on.

Until a stone hits it and then requires a replacement. That will be covered, nothing dishonest or illegal about that. :-)

Even if you claim off the insurance you will still pay,one way or another .. eg when you come to renew

Not for replacement windscreens, they don't affect premiums.

It might be worth speaking to a windscreen replacement place, here in france they are realy hot on doing repairs where possiible for stone chips and things, they might at least be able to stop it growing.

Try taking it to one of the windscreen replacement depots and ask if it's been caused by a stone chip, if so get it in writing and contact your insurers again.

Aspenshaw If you are looking for cosmetic option until you can get it replaced, then this would probably do you.

If you do end up having to replace the screen, then look into the costs of getting it done next to the factory in Germany.
(or elsewhere).
You even get a "free" holiday thrown in!

Your big advantage is you are not in a hurry, you can hunt for the best price all over Europe and the drive there in the spring.

I know one Funster with a cracked screen drove from Spain to Germany to get it replaced, as it was considerably cheaper than getting it done in the UK
