Been camping with my family for over 20 years now, absolutely love it. We have just purchased our first MH, due to be picked up next Monday.
Truth be told, " I'm bricking it".
Any information about insurance companies would be great. And any General advice would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome from West Midlands.

To get the most from the forum you will need to subscribe. It's well worth £15 and will allow you to continue posting as well as letting you into areas that non members can't access.

Hello and welcome!:WelcomeFlag: Join up and it will be the most valuable£15 you will have ever spent! For help advice and information and funster banter and friendship it's a great forum.
Enjoy your new holiday trips!

When we bought our first van we had camped for 30+ years and we were very nervous even went back to visit the van at the dealer 3 times!! Using it on the drive for the first night was great as no campers to watch and laugh! Although nosy neighbours came for a look!
Once we went on our first trip and couldn't get the gas to work so had to get a takeaway a fellow camper came to show us and the rest is history!!
Never want to sleep under 'canvas' again!!

Hi and welcome. Comfort would be a good place to start with an insurance quote. Perhaps not the cheapest but does include full European breakdown cover and allows 365 days out of the country so long as no single trip longer than 9 months. If over 3.5 tonnes you will need to check any other breakdown service will cover you.

Take your time we all bricked it originally.
I think the best bit of advice is to drive it locally first.
A few 1 hour trips getting used to the feel of the vehicle its width, turning circle and how far the back end kicks out when turning.
Once you feel more relaxed driving it the rest becomes a matter of exploration and fun.
Hope it goes brilliantly
Kev

After your 1st few drives in it ,, you will find it lots more easier. just avoid the narrow roads at the start until you get to know how wide the MH is.
BTW Welcome :D

Still trucking and learning
Try Safeguard and Comfort first - they seem to be the most popular on here - we have been with both.

Hi.gif
and a warm welcome from us.

Suggestion for when collecting the 'van would be to ask
  • how the beds are made up
  • how to change the gas cylinder
  • how to put the fridge on gas
  • how the 12v system works
These were the main questions that we needed help with.
Hope all goes well and that you get hooked on motorhoming as we did.
