hi, what do people use for long stay insurance , just been looking and most companies only allow 30/ 35 days in Europe , just had a quote from Saga over £600, not a cat in hells chance!! so looking for something a bit more reasonable .

POH take a look at insures that do back packers insurance you can usually choose how long you want and they were quite reasonable😊

Hi POH. Did you get a solution to this? We are planning a 6 month trip in Europe and not sure how to get around the long period of van insurance

I'm from Northern Ireland so have a British & Irish passport. My husband is French. We're OK on that front thankfully but have the LHD UK purchase and insure challenge! I'm going to call around some when I get the mental energy to see which ones will entertain a long trip. Will let you know if I find much of interest

Hi.

We are travelling to Spain on Wednesday for 90 days and have taken out a premium annual multi trip policy for Europe with LV insurance for £130. The basic policy allows trips of up to 30 days while the premium policy is for 90 days. Maybe this will work for you too.

We are full timers and have Nationwide travel insurance via UK travel. We have upgraded the cover to 180 consecutive days.

If you return to UK for one day, the clock clicks back to zero, so you have another 180 days 😀.

We were in France for 4 months, came back to see family for a couple of weeks and now in Spain / Portugal / France for the next 6.5 months. We are going to UK and then Ireland for a wedding in February, so that will mean our rolling 180 will return to zero when we reach the UK 😀

Cost £352 for the 2 of us.

Hope this makes sense and maybe helps?

Hi. Thanks for the message. We're going away for 6 months (have EU passports) so 90 days won't be enough unfortunately. Comfort only offer 90 days max too. Will keep looking but getting concerned we'll find anything with a reasonable price tag!

Try Marks and Spencer. They normally offer up to 90 days but their rep told me that longer can be arranged.

Thanks Fulham Dave, that's really helpful - I could look at moving my banking if it helped with Nationwide. Will check them out. Sounds like you have a fab life! I live in Roehampton, not far from Fulham and have spent many a cold Tuesday night at the Cottage

Ah, just realised you are talking about travel insurance and not motorhome insurance. What do you do for that, or do you not have it with you?

Motorhome is insured via Comfort. Only them and one other, Adrian Flux, would quote and they were the cheapest (although not cheap at all!!!!!) owing to value of the van

Hi Lizbit, we were Fulham season ticket holders since 1995 and it was the hardest thing to give up when chosing this life last year!!

Went back to UK in October and managed to get to 5 games in, home and away, staying in the van for the away games 😄😁

Regarding moving your banking, don't, they have stopped offering the insurance this year.

The company are called UK insurance, so if you need there details for travel insurance let me know and I will hunt for the paperwork/ contact details

I thought Comfort limited the policy to 90 days european travel. Will give them a call tomorrow - thanks!
