Heading home from Spain and disembarking at Portsmouth on Friday 8th. As Ginny has hospital appointment in London on 11th, we've decided not to head home to Nottingham but to weekend it at CC site in Abbey Wood.

Been there before but at least 20 years ago, I know there's a National Rail station at Abbey Wood for connection to London.

So have two days to explore, Sat/Sun. Would like to visit Greenwich, Cutty Sark and Maritime Museum. Any other 'must do's' ?

Travel tips would be welcome, think it might be too late to get Oyster Card and we don't have a contactless debit/credit card.

Lastly, is there a 'sensible' route into Abbey Wood?

Cheers Dave

We stayed there a few times between around 2007-10 and used to buy day tickets that allowed us to get into London and use the tube as well.

Always followed the route advised by the CC in the handbook. I once asked a warden (motorhomer) why the route wasn't more direct close to the site and he said it was because of a couple of bends which could be awkward, with restricted vision, for people who didn't know the road, especially towing or in a large vehicle.

The Thames Clipper is a good way to arrive at Greenwich you can pick it up adjacent to a number of riverside stations and use your train ticket for discount fares.
