I crossed that bridge on foot as a school boy a few years ago (in London NOT Arizona) ........ many say that when the original £1,000,000 bid for London Bridge was made that the Yanks thought they were buying Tower Bridge.

We (Free) camped a couple of miles down the Road in 2012 in a park by the lake. 2014 we stayed in the Camp Ground on the California Side of Lake Havesu. On Indian Land. And Crossed over by Ferry.

The "view" is from the camp-ground looking across the lake toward Havasu City.

Remember seeing it as a Kid on a school trip to London in the 1950`s

Excerpt:
A popular urban legend is that McCulloch mistakenly believed that he was buying the more impressive Tower Bridge. London bridge had been heavily marketed by the London Council in an effort to sell it worldwide. Broken Link Removed, the council member who sold the bridge, has always stated that London sold the bridge honestly.

There was also a program on the box sometime last year where they investigated/debunked the myth.

Nah - I prefer the myth - anything to bring those yanks down a peg or two.

I recently spoke to a US couple, mature and educated, who truly thought Thanksgiving Day was to give thanks for winning the war against the English :) Poor disillusioned sods. :)
