Loire valley chateaux access by bikes?

I suppose it depends how far you want to ride. There's a useful looking list on Wikipedia here.

Every campsite that we stayed in on the Loire last year had a larger proportion of cyclists than we've ever seen before. They were cycling the valley either as a whole trip or parts of it, from château to château.

mapy.cz is your friend in the app world here. It will show you where teh cycle routes go and you can zoom right in and it uses GPS so no data being used, and its free.
I thought the cycle route would be right alongside the river, but the bit we did, and i m really struggling to remember where, was 20 kms and didnt see it, as the path comes back into towns but on back roads between towns. I ll add it when I find it.

I ve just checked and it was so boring I didnt even mention it nor put a photo up. Possibly near Angers somewhere, but certainly before Orleans, and I remember a town that may have begun with a g and 4 letters but definitely had an Auchan about a kilometre west of the town. Anyway the cycling on that bit was awful

I have just downloaded it, thanks. I'll have a look at it in conjunction with the wiki on the chateaus. We stayed at a campsite in Vendôme a few years ago but didn't have bikes with us.

La Loire à Vélo is the part of EuroVelo Route 6 through France and might give some inspiration. Keep going though and you’ll end up at the Black Sea!
