I'm trying to sort out the logistics of travelling from glasgow to the lofoten islands. Help?
So far the plan seems to be:
Drive to Newcastle
Ferry to Amsterdam
Drive to hirtshals
Ferry to oslo
Drive to jotunheim
Hike jotunheim area 1-2 weeks
Drive to Bergen
????car ferry to svolvaer
Hike for 4-6 weeks on svolvaer
??? Car ferry from svolvaer to alesund
Hike 1-2 weeks in sunnmore alps
Then head to Europe or st petersburgh, Baltic States
Is there a car ferry from Bergen to svolvaer?? The hurtigruten travels this route...but does it take vehicles?? Trying to avoid loads of driving.

I'm afraid I didn't make it because of the pandemic...but its supposed to be on the cards this summer..
Very basic plan will be to drive but via Sweden then across to the lofoten islands..so a different plan to that of Paddington..

Having said that ..if you have specific questions about specific travel routes in Norway, I could check for you with my sister...she lives and works over there..

Surly you just drive to Bodø and jump on the ferry?

I'm trying to reduce the amount of driving. Hence why I'm trying to find out if the hurtigruten from Bergen to svolvaer takes vehicles.

Catch the Hurtigruten and don't waste your time effort and cash can get off anywhere and stop over and far cheaper than trying to get a motorhome on a tiny island and find that after an hour you have *done it!* Its a bit like a bus service, you get off and on when you want and to be quite honest its great but a bit expensive!

Yes the

MS Nordkapp takes 24

MS Midnatsol takes 32 etc

sorry about the big print it was copied and pasted not shouting

They only take cars though AFAIK, not motorhomes.

You can switch the text editor mode to BBCode and remove extra formatting code like [HEADING=1/] etc.
NB: Ignore the ‘/‘ I put into defeat the editor 🤪

Great plan......good luck....

It appears that campervans are not allowed on the ferry. Although I've emailed the company to check as some cars are as big as my vw. will let you know if I get a reply.
