I'm a newbie
Any recommendations for locks on garage under bed?

just be careful when fitting extras locks as you just make it more interesting that your hiding something they might want 😱

You could say the same with houses that have alarms.

just luck of the draw if someone wants in they will be in.

I myself have seen NO other options at the moment and I have been everywhere looking.

Said it before on here but I am a firm believer "if they want lt/in they will get it/in" and the more you do to stop them the more damage they will do.

Locking hand rail.

Fiamma dead locks

window locks

door warning stickers

cab internal dead locks

cab alarm. Immobiliser .

I do not know if there is anything else one can do.

I know a funster who has a brand new set of Fiamma locks for sale in the classifieds at a discounted rate

Already have alarm it's purely to stop illegals whilst going through Calais. Just want a better lock.
Good to hear you have an alarm. If you can obtain, or even print labels, it may deter anyone trying to force the door.

The fiamma ones that i put up for sale are the ones I had on a previous van.
They are a strong visible deterrent in my view in that someone with a mind to nick something will just move onto your neighbour.
The trick is to buy them with the same key (normally in a set of 3)
The reason mine are for sale is that I prefer the slightly different connection style and realised my error upon receipt of them.
I think they are normally £120 ish off ebay
Having bought them for previous van I was more than happy to buy them again (and then buy the ones I wanted !)

I have fitted the Fiamma locks that screw through the door shuts rather than through the actual sides.

In my previous Dethleffs Advantage I accidentally locked both keys in the garage. After trying every way I could a locksmith was called to open the garage. He had all the equipment a locksmith carries, he really tried everything to open the garage door. After two hours he inserted a strange flat bag which he inflated to crack the castings on the two locks. So I do have confidence in the locks and feel no need to fit extra protection.

I had 4 locks fitted by Paul Harrison all on the same key, it’s an a class van so only 4 required. Lot neater than the Fiamma type which are prone to the paint blistering around the lock barrel and look unsightly. They are double throw locks so very secure and he will supply them if you wish to fit yourself.

I wanted to fit the same but never had enough gap between the openings and body.

Hi there. The main problem with all these ideas is that every Motorhome have very vulnerable windows. We can fit locks and bars to prevent access through doors and lockers but a screwdriver can get in the windows in seconds. We end up with stuff gone and a whole where the acryl window used to be.
locks and alarms help to resist the amateur or the opportunist but the pro will break there way in.
Golden rules - don’t leave things in sight that wrongans will see and want, park in busy places, alarm to draw attention, and think before you leave vehicle and ensue it is locked, tidy and alarmed.
good luck.

Thanks for reply but it's purley only needed if going through Calais onto ferry.

I gave the fiamma locker locks on my lockers and a Millenco door lock on Hab door. Cab doors have Heo-safe locks. Growler alarm.
I read with amusement that some think more locks means more valuables to hide or more damage they do. Maybe they leave their motorhome unlocked.
If someone wants to get in they will do as most windows are plastic as are roof vents.
What’s to stop them prizing a window and cracking it and damaging the frame if the bodywork?
If I was a thief I would go for the one with no additional locks as it’s opportunist of what causes least hassle to them along with the risk of getting caught.

In my mind, the best locks or anti theft devices are the one's that you make yourself, and mechanical is better.
A lock that you "Buy", can be bought by anyone and the internals will probably be weak, nothing a drill cant get through.
Have you ever noticed "Security/Bank Safes" with rotating combination locks ? ten to one they will have a "Key" as well.
The key lock is the real deterrent. Rambling here but...........
A good piece of hardwood in the locker on a piece of string/rope up to your bed will make it really difficult to open that garage door even if you did'nt lock it with the keys.

Bit off topic but do you have a dog that you can travel with? They are terrified of dogs the bigger the better! Or a *barking * proximity alarm if the blinds are shut.

A big stick with a point on it . Makes an illegal think twice.
apart from that seems you have alarms ect so stay with the van doors locked a can of league that’s like pepper spray and a big stick.

having said having using or owning pepper spray here in the uk is a criminal offence.
but there are a few legal options.

face dye. https://www.police-supplies.co.uk/farb-gel-self-defence-spray

mace or as good as UK Legal Pepper Spray Alternative for Men & Women with UV Marking 40ml

Easystart is very flammable, do you really want to turn the person into a torch? They should make a dye that smells really obnoxious but does no physical damage, that might make them think twice.
