I had one and trie "sideways" loading but it being heavy and be being a short arse it did not work very well but a lighter Honda 125 and a Easy lifter sorted that out, lower Easylifter, ride scoot on, tie down then lift up with the jack and lock into place, simples.
Do not do this anymore since our bad accident and now tow our Mx5 on a trailer if going abroad to either France or Spain (usually 6-8 weeks)

BTW we used to have a Goldwing 1500 Aspencade (our accident was with that ) then as i could ride a bike anymore we bought a California Sidecar trike also on a 1500.
Wife will not go on one again, hence the Mx5, great in summer with roof down !!!
