Argh... I have or had a mouse. It dropped out when we moved the van on a trip at the weekend. I think the only damage is the screen wash cap but do any of you have an suggestions as to how I might keep the little perishers away in the future ?

You can get poison from places like garden centres. We get then in our attic from time to time. The stuff I use is a treated grain which comes with a little tray you pour a sachet of the stuff into.

You could try balancing a tray in the engine compartment, remembering to remove it before driving off. :) 🐭🐁

We have 6 cats (none ours) who regularly, day and night patrol our drive around the van. Keep setting the Ring camera alarm off but I will take that if it means they keep the mice away.

Get a decent mouse trap, I leave two traps sett in van when not in use and I leave a couple of trap under van by wheels in a 4pts plastic milk container cut a half circle hole on the side place trap inside then seal back over then remove cap so mice enter and then little birds etc can’t get trapped . Don’t leave any food out, we keep all food in a containers .

Put the tray in the engine compartment, tie it down if necessary. The dogs won't be able to get anywhere near it. And if you only put a teaspoon of it out a time they wouldn't come to any harm if they did. You will never see the dead mice.

Very fine wire wool around holes in undercarriage where pipes go
jeyes fluid over tyres, old fashioned mothballs, tumble dryer sheets, traps, poison

put down some talcum powder along side the seat boxes. You will soon know if you have mice in the van with footprints. Under the bonnet is difficult. You need to check the air intakes though as a favourite nest place. The little sods like chewing wires too, so a liberal coat of peppermint oil will deter them

Mint oil or mint essence as mentioned above, we had a terrible problem with mice in the garage. Caught about 5 and then put a line of mint oil on the floor around the garage door and no more mice in the traps or garage. I wish it worked for cats !!! Gardening is definitely a glove and mask job 😝
