I think I’ve already decided but what’s your opinion?
Weve ordered the new van, delivery December it comes with one battery so I’ve ordered a second 110a gel at a cost of £320 factory fitted. There is a lithium package which includes. 3x 100a batterie, 250w solar and a 2000w inverter at a cost of £8500, which I’m not willing to pay I’ve got an inverter and I’ll fit the solar my self.
The question is do I cancel the extra gel battery at £320, sell the gel the new van comes with and buy a couple of lithium batteries and fit those, I would assume the charger can be set to charge lithium’s as it’s a high end 2021 van. I’m leaning towards just sticking with the extra gel as I’ve never had a problem before and we don’t run loads of 240v then in 4 years time when their dead upgrade to lithium then?

why are some lithium batteries £400 then other £1500 for what seems to be very similar specs?

Thanks

Dealers will always charge more than what you can get and fit your selves. they are in business after all, but if you can why not.

But as for lithium, if you have never needed it before you probably wouldnt now. Im a fan of lithium and have 200ah in the van with uprated wiring and 360 solar on the roof, love it.

WIth 100ah lithum batteries available now aound 400 Id question the gels at 320 fitted and fit my own lithium, depending on what wiring and charge set up the van has

It’s hard for me to find out to much about what’s in the van as there is only one Niesmann dealer in the uk and niesmann them self just say contact your dealer but of course they want to sell you the package at £8500.

You will be waiting a lot longer than 4 years Gels often last over 10 years. 2 of mine are 5 years old & 1 is 4 years old all still performing as new apart from a bit of age related capacity loss.

All dealers in uk put in basic unless higher spec is specified. TBH I dont blame them as moneys money and anything other than basic may not be required by the purchaser.

I fitted 360 solar direct to the battery
200ah bluetooth lithum
Victron 100-30 Mppt
and Victron Orion B2b for probs around £2500

Do you think you'll be keeping the van for longer than the average life of a gel battery?

6 to 8 years?

We are going to keep this van for some time, we kept our old Niesmann for 10 years then swapped for a new Carthago but never been happy so it’s back to Niesmann😁 just hope it’s as good as the last one only time will tell but if it is then it will be a keeper, I’m 54 now the plan is to down size when when I hit my 60s but who knows.
