what is the advantage of lithium batterys ? do they hold charge better and what sort of price would a 100 amp lithium battery be and do you need any special controls for them i assume they can be run from solar panels

To me biggest advantage is that the voltage does not gradually drop off as it does in a lead battery so you get a constant 13ish volts right down to when battery is nearly discharged, so my TV does not crash even when my old lead batteries still had about 55% capacity.
Plenty of other advantages also quicker to charge and accept higher charging currents.
Others will be along soon.

A lot more amp hours per kg, strictly speaking that should be watt hours but either way for a given weight you can pack in around twice the power and can discharge much lower that lead acid batteries, price varies quite dramatically as I am sure you will find if you do a quick internet search, yes they charge very well from solar and will charge faster than lead acid.

Lithium batteries have different charging requirements then lead acid variants if you wish to get the best performance and life from them, also they can be damaged if charged at temperatures below 0C so if your likely to be using them in low temperatures you will need to buy ones that have heaters or a management system that prevents them from charging at low temperatures, they can be charged by solar but ideally you need a solar controller with a Lithium charging profile and also a battery to battery charger so the alternator charges the batteries correctly. Also lithium batteries discharge voltage stays consistent until they are virtually flat so you will need a battery monitor that can calculate charge and discharge so you know how full your batteries are, a simple voltage monitor will not do the job.

That's more or less what I wanted to say but I knew somebody could put it better than me👍👍👍👍👍
