Lithium battery conversion

Hi everyone, I’m new here
I’m thinking of upgrading my leisure battery to a lithium battery. Is there an easy way to do this? Do I need to change any chargers and I have solar power, will I need to do anything with this, or are all solar controllers compatible with lithium?

Hi Kevan, sorry say there's really no one size fits all answer. Have you set a budget limit, are you contemplating self installation or paying someone to do the work ,how old, and big is the van, how do use the van,mostly on sites or off grid when possible? Come back with your van model for a start, I'm sure others will have upgraded a similar model and can give first hand experience for you.

Hi Kevan. I would not assume that all chargers are lithium compatible. My old solar charger was not. So, to be safe, I would suggest you ensure that both solar and mains chargers are suitable for lithium. You also need to check what type of alternator you have so ensure its ok with charging a lithium hab battery. My 2008 Bessecarr was old style alternator so swap from lead acid hab battery to lithium was fairly straight forward.
