Hi thinking to buy wind blockers any info on lilypad or others would be great Thanks in advance

We rate ours. They stop that chill breeze dead that you get in UK. I don't know if they would stop a strong wind but if it's that windy we probably won't have the wind out awning out anyway. Best thing too is that it's just two poles that pull in half and 3 screens that weigh just a few grams and pack away to nowt . So if you don't used them they've not been a burden to cart along. And you just put which side or front that makes a difference, it's not like you have to build a room and set the whole thing up. We often use one end as a windbreaker and that's all we set up. Seconds to un hook the screen and pack in a bag and wind the awning in at night then two secs next day.

Thanks for your feedback it's been a great help

We rate ours too. One thing not mentioned is that they dry out very quickly if there is a shower just before you go, for example.

That's good to know

This is probably a silly question but do they block the rain - or at least give a little protection?

Excellent piece of kit, hardly any weight to them , and yes they do keep out the rain from a light shower, and then dry very quickly.
I believe that the fabric they use is the same as the dutch bulb growers use to keep the weather off of the plants.

Ditto what others have said. very light and easy to rig up. ideal for Spain. a lot easier and quicker than a full awning.

Just had a look but seems you have to buy a complete set whereas before you could buy each part separate. Thought they ate a bit pricey for a rod and some mesh ?

Depends if you have the inner curtains, ours don't, but we can sit more in the middle, away from the sides, and keep dry. But it does allow you to move around outside the van, keep the van door open, and gives you a feeling of not being shut inside. Obviously not waterproof, but it cuts the spray down.Plus the floor is largely dry. We're happy with that.

I made some up with voile, cord and clips and they are very useful - they will keep the cool wind off but allow heat to escape so we didn't get overheated when using them in France. They also give an little privacy. The Lily pad ones look better than my home made effort but if you're not sure how often they would be used, try voile first. We got ours from a local market and probably paid around £15 for enough to go around our Fiamma awning sides.

Something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOILE-FA...d=link&campid=5338547443&toolid=20001&mkevt=1

I notice they also do rain blockers - anybody got any experience of these? I was thinking they could also be used as a windbreak.

Mattyjwr, do have pics you can share of your homemade ones? Or provide a description of how you went about it?
ive got 25 metres of a nylon mesh fabric lying about should be ideal!

Had ours since 2008 and they have been worth the money. Just bought some more self adhesive press studs to fit the awning skirt (same material) on present van, with hindsight maybe better off buying the screw on type as every time we have changed van had to purchase some more. Lilypad dont sell the press studs anymore as they have become that expensive. We managed to source some a bit cheaper on internet.

I’m after some windblockers or at least a side panel if anyone else is considering selling?
I need one to fit an awning height of 255-260cm

I've asked the boss to find some pictures.

If I had nylon mesh, I'd hold it up against the wind and see how much wind gets through; voile lets very little through. If you're happy with the wind reduction, I'd measure the height between the awning and the ground and add enough extra to have some mesh going over the top of the awning support if it is open or to hang over a bungee cord stretched between each end of the awning legs at the top and bottom. I would use bulldog clips or similar to hold it in place at the top and bottom. If this gives sufficient wind reduction to seem worthwhile, I'd add enough panels to fill the rest of the awning sides, with some overlap between panels but with the option to be able to slide them apart for some breeze if required and an open area on the lea side for entry and egress.

Once you're happy with the lengths of mesh and effectiveness, I'd get around to making it look neater. It works well enough for me and does a decent job.

We have them for our current Motorhome and we had them on the previous one.
The latest designs are much better, improvements made to the rods, and also to the design.

We have opted for the lined version this time as well, so we have the option of dropping the inner 'non mesh' liner when required.
Highly recommended, really light and easy to store in the rear locker, and they are rain repellent, and dry very quickly.

Hi Stacetop. they are still in buisness in Hull compared to a conventional awning they are good cheap option. I said I would never recomend them again as I went to one of the shows and was after the new type off him and asked for a discount as I had recomended them to loads of campers who had admired them. The old so and so said "they all say that" and walked away!

Do Lilypad have a showroom one can wonder around?

We have had a couple of sets, but as we stay in Portugal over the winter, they get Brittle
in the sun over time.my wife decided to make her own , but , they are great for occasional use.

Not sure but they go to several shows throughout the year. We have the end panels, tend to use them just to keep out the wind from one direction but would, use a front panel if we had one.

thanks, it’s good to know that the newer ones are better! I may speak to them!

Lily Pad Wind blockers are good, they will also keep light rain out, heavy rain will penetrate as a spray, they dry out quickly, they almost instantly cool the area under the awning down and they pack up small! We’ve had ours for several years now but only bought the front and one end, and as said earlier they don’t give you that closed in feel!

Great thanks. look forward to hearing from you. Chris
Hi Chris
Our set of Lily Pad screens are for a 3.5m awning, although we used it on a 4m awning and it gives you a doorway. The sides rear height is 2.5m and it will come with the side support poles. The netting itself is black as pictured in Shrimps photo.

We have recently received a set with linings but apart from a test in storage, haven’t used them yet. But they are easy to attach and are very light. Were looking to use them in Portugal this winter but for obvious reasons this didn’t happen.
Maker was very helpful over the phone when checking measurements.

Yes they do reduce the rain greatly .
