I’m a newbie owned a caravan for 7 years
any suggestions on a great motorcycle and carrier for a tow bar, I believe the max weight is only 120kg not a lot so purhaps a electric Motorcycle of which I have very little knowledge. The vehicle is a HYMERCAR sprinter Grand Canyon.

Thanks

Morning Andy, carrying a motorbike on the rear comes with some complications, like, payload etc....very nice to leave the van a go off where you want, many do it and I too have in the past.
More folk are turning to eBikes, only 23 kg more or less, I do this, two in fact, both inside the garage, out of sight...is this something you could consider....

I appreciate payload issues but I can get a van with more payload I am not restricted to 3500kg although that is beneficial for European towns and cities. I know about ebikes that isn’t what I want too slow will most likely have bikes on the roof or in the van as well.

We've got the 8bhp, 103kg Honda Vision 110cc.

The 110cc Suzuki Address is better at 9bhp, 98kg, has kick start and cheaper.

But 8-9bhp isn't much when you're 2up and setting off up hill, the bike really does struggle. If I were buying again I'd go for the Honda SH125 mode 113kg but 12bhp.

Also I wouldn't like a scooter wobbling about on the towbar, I'd remove it and sell it, then get a proper rack fitted on the chassis.

These guys will sort you something out:

You need to know the axle weight for the rear wheels and then you can work it out. Normally the load is spread between the 4 wheels but when you start hanging stuff behind the rear wheels it changes. First you need a tow bar and the weight of that. Then the weight of the bike but because it’s beyond the rear wheels it will also transfer some weight from the front wheels as it uses the rear wheels as a pivot. Balancing 120kg on a towball could be interesting. Do you need to get in the back doors very often, if you do you need to be able to unload it easily.

We have an Adria 640 twin. We also use an easy lift scooter rack fitted to the tow ball. Our Sym 200i weighs 115 kg and we have used it all over Europe, the system works well and has never caused any problems. We have access to the under bed storage from the inside, important because you don’t have to keep taking the scooter off when in transit.
If you are coming to Thetford you can see it in situ.

Have you reconsidered an Easylifter Hydratrail? No reversing issues and within reason you can have any bike you or scooter you want.

I read somewhere that the ferry or tunnel costs double with extra wheels
