I’m struggling to find present for my new Motorhome but came up with a great idea, my boat has underwater lighting which looks great at night, you can see the fish and it looks really snazzy, I was wondering if I should fit a system under my Motorhome that would work remotely with my phone, we have the Hue system with coloured lights through our home and garden maybe I could fit them for when on EHU or go for a 12v version, I’m sure with the correct Hue and light positioning it could make you look as if you are floating on air, you never know if cameras were fitted you could maybe see some small animals ?

I guess I could fit marine underwater lights as they are built for a tough environment, would just like ideas and experience from those of you that already have them fitted. Thanks

I may be wrong but I thought putting lights on a vehicle is not legal anymore remembering something happening when they became popular with boy racers I haven't fitted them as the wife flatly refuses to sleep under the motorhome

I'd make sure you also fit a chameleon to catch all the bugs you'll be attracting!
Can you put them on a lead?

I didn’t say for when I was driving more for when on a pitch, I’ve had it before when I’m so drunk I can’t find the van, with this I would have a shortcut on my phone, press it and the van would light up, easy, it saves the embarrassment of waking up in the wrong van ?

Not legal for road use. But you will be ok in the campsite. ??

The Caravan and Motorhome Club would never allow them on their sites! "Light up the peg dear boy? Never!"

We have no lights lighting up our house at night.
Our village street lights go out at 10pm.
We have a wind out awning and if we use it at night we use a citronella candle to provide a nice cosy light and get rid of the bugs flying about.
Same as when we are home, we have a covered veranda and use citronella candles.
We put lights on inside the van if we need them.

I don’t understand why you would want lights everywhere, just enjoy the dark and look at the incredible view above you when the sky is clear and stop creating so much unnecessary light pollution.

If you have the vanbits alarm you won't need any extra lighting, parked against one once , had to tell him to switch it off, like having the cops next door :(

I was in France and had been at the beach, came back and there was a couple with a car and very small tent on a huge pitch next to me, they were foreign, we were going out for dinner, when we came back, it was only about 8.30pm I activated my remotes light to see our way to the Motorhome, then all the exterior lights, we have some looped through a tree as well, we’ll blow me down as the pitch illuminated we suddenly saw the neighbours were sitting with legs crossed on the ground eating some kind of soup that was heated on a mini gas stove and cuddling each other, they had head torches on ?. Anyway they didn’t need head torches for the rest of the night, the light on my ice machine was brighter than those head torches ?. It can’t be a price issue as torches are so cheap. Anyway this is the inside of our Coleman shelter, we take our own ivy for decoration and Astro turf to lay on the pitch as I hate sand ?

You haven’t bought a rice car. It’s a motorhome ?

Usually OK on the dim setting at night. Perhaps there ought to be a test for common sense before anyone is allowed to buy it ;)

I used to be 'in to' custom cars and cruising.. Have fitted lights under a lot of vehicle including our second motorhome
All I can recommend is that you spend your money on the very best you can find
There are an awful lot of lights that are sold as being suitable and waterproof, but you are lucky if they last a year.
Look at suppliers to the custom scene.
I cannot make any sensible recommendations as I have been away from the scene too long

Please don’t add to light pollution and energy consumption! Just because you can does not make it a great idea.

Enjoy your new motor home but not at the expense of others. ;-)
